Songs of Deliverance

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. Psalms 32:5-7
While reading Psalms the other day, I came across a word I was unfamiliar with. The word was Higgaion. It was in the verse:
The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. Psalms 9:16
Strong's Concordance says it means meditation but also could be a musical notation, like a chord on the harp. Here are some of the other verses where it was used:
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation (Higgaion) of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalms 19:14

Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound (Higgaion). Psalms 92:3

The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device (Higgaion) against me all the day. Lamentations 3:62
It is like a perfect chord for emphasis. For someone who is a beginner guitarist - there is something amazing about the sound of a chord that is played perfectly compared to one that is not. The kind of chord that makes you stop and consider all the beauty and wonder that is our Lord.

The Lord created music. Unfortunately for us, the great counterfeiter Satan has corrupted almost all the music, and it is hard to find music that has not been touched by him. But, it is still out there. The Lord desires us to sing praises to him and He will wrap us in songs of deliverance.
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Eph 5:19
I'm going to the mountains with my family for Spring Break and not sure what the internet access is. If something happens blog-worthy and I have internet access I will blog - if not, I am praying for you all.

This is amazing as I've literally just been looking at how much of the music in this world is not of the Lord.

I've literally just been researching it an just finished.

Thanks so much

Yeah, I've done alot of research on what the devil has done in the music realm. But our Father is greater than the devil. For every thing the adversary counterfeits, there is still the true from the Lord.

Blessings Suzie! Thanks for commenting!
