Aristarchus

Aristarchus was a Macedonian, specifically from Thessalonica. He was traveling with Paul and he is mentioned five times in the bible. Five is the number for grace. We see that Aristarchus was in Ephesus with Paul at the time that the crowds were yelling “Great is (the goddess) Diana of the Ephesians” (Acts 19:28) and was pulled into the theatre. Bad things could have happened to Aristarchus if the Lord by way of the townclerk did not intervene on his and the other believer’s behalf.

Paul named Aristarchus a fellowlabourer in the book of Philemon but also a fellowprisoner in the book of Colossians. He followed Paul into his bondage for the Lord and was unwilling to separate himself from Paul’s ministry.

The name Aristarchus means “the best ruler.” In Colossians 4 after listing several believers including Aristarchus, Paul says, “These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.”

He also has a facebook page. Well, someone has a facebook page in his honor I guess!

I just noticed his name today while I was reading the bible and thought I would share a little bit more about him.

Have a great day my friends!

Thanks for that! I often skim over these names. How cool it would be to be mentioned in scripture...in a good way:)
