I'm just going to throw out some casual
observations I made over the long weekend.
First of all, you
can't get a lot of work done when it is 105 degrees out. So I tried
to utilize my morning hours as much as I could.
We had a very
nice 9th anniversary. I made my husband some yummy steaks on two
different days and used the leftovers to make some stew. We have
leftover stew for a couple of lunches this week. I made a cauliflower
and red bell pepper quiche that turned out really good. Tomorrow I
will probably post the recipe because it is a crust-less quiche
recipe that turns out great every time I make it.
Went
grocery shopping on Saturday but forgot to buy butter. On Sunday, I
ran down to the little store for butter and noticed that gas had
jumped 40 cents over night. I told the owner (who was working the
store) that I base how I think the economy is doing on the gas price.
We discussed the shrink-flation we are all experiencing. She told me
that the electricity for the park has gone up from 14 cents a watt to
19 cents. She added 'and where you are paying for thousands of watts
it adds up'. Plus the “usage fee” which is based on how many
watts you are using went up as well. Highway robbery. Just another
way to steal our wealth.
There were not many campers this
weekend either. I'm sure the extreme heat had something to do with
it.
On a whim, I checked on the Indian Casino I worked at in
Oregon to see if they still require the death shot for employment,
which was the main reason I both quit my job and left the state of
Oregon.
Nope. I didn't see anything anywhere on the careers
page about mandatory shots. I'll bet they regret all the good, long
term employees they lost over that fiasco. Plus, they were always
short handed before the jabs. Well, I'm in a much better place all
around (except it was a pretty rare day that Oregon saw 105).

Happy Anniversary! We hit 44 this year. Looking forward to the quiche recipe, although I'll talk my wife into using bacon instead of cauliflower.
I worked part time through the scamdemic; was going to quit if they had required the clotshot. Good call on your part.

If I was paying 19 cents per KWh, I'd be dancing in the streets!!! "Governor" Newsom, in his full-throttle attempt to drive the state of California off the "green" cliff, DOUBLED our rates last year to 51 cents per KWh. This year, with no notification at all, our rates went to 66 cents per KWh! Yeah, you got it. We're talking MONTHLY electric bills of between four and five hundred dollars!!! And that's with being a light switch Nazi!
Fuel went up 30 cents here since last week. ...$5.20/gallon for diesel and premium...
I can't even imagine that pete. time to get out of california!
Just for comparison: I am in Canada (Calgary, Alberta) so costs are in $Cdn. Electricity is $0.1239 per kwh plus service & distribution fees. Natural gas is $5.00 per gigajoule plus fees. Gas for vehicle is $1.44 per liter. Last month's gas & electric bill was $110. Alberta just reelected a conservative government that promises to fight the federal government like a wounded badger if/when they overstep their boundaries and try to shut down our oil & gas industries. Same goes for our farmers & ranchers. Next election here is 4 years away so we've gotten a sort of reprieve for a while. But our groceries have gone up at least 25%. Butter is $8/lb and 2 years ago it was $4.50. Milk and cheese the same. I eat a lot of hamburger and stock up my freezer when I find a 'deal'.
